Commissions

Custom watercolor pieces made from your memories, places, and pets — painted slowly, by hand, in ink and pigment.

How it works

A simple, considered process — from first chat to the moment the painting arrives at your door.

1

Say hello

Tell me about the subject, the size you'd like, and any reference photos. We'll figure out the right package together.

2

Sketch & approve

I send a pencil sketch and a small palette swatch. You give notes; I refine until it feels right.

3

Paint by hand

Watercolor and ink on archival paper. Most pieces take 2–3 weeks of layered, slow work.

4

Ship to you

Carefully packaged and mailed flat with tracking. A digital scan is included for printing.

What I love to paint

A few of the things I'll happily say yes to. If your idea isn't here, send it anyway — most commissions begin as "I wasn't sure if you'd take this on."

Storefronts & homes

The shop on the corner, the house you grew up in, the wedding venue. Architecture rendered with warmth.

Landmarks & cityscapes

City halls, capitols, beloved blocks — places that already feel like home before you've finished walking past.

Pets, people & small worlds

A dog in their favorite chair, a still life of a kitchen counter, the small scenes that become someone's whole memory.

Frequently asked

How long does a commission take?
Most pieces take 2–3 weeks from the sketch approval. Larger storefront pieces or holiday-season requests can take 4–6 weeks — I'll always give you an honest timeline upfront.
What reference photos do you need?
Bright, clear photos in natural light are best. For pets, 3–5 photos including a close-up of the face. For buildings, a straight-on photo plus any small details you love (a window box, a sign, the door color).
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — international shipping is available at cost. Tracking is always included, and I pack flat with rigid board to keep the painting safe.
Can I order prints of a commissioned piece?
Absolutely. Every commission includes a high-resolution scan you can use for personal prints. If you'd like me to handle archival prints for you, I can quote those alongside the original.
What's the deposit and payment schedule?
A 50% deposit holds your spot in the queue and covers the sketch round. The remaining 50% is due before the original ships. Payment is via invoice — card, bank transfer, or Venmo all work.
Do you take rush orders?
Sometimes — it depends on what's already on the easel. A rush surcharge of 20% applies for turnaround under two weeks. Reach out and I'll let you know what's possible.
